As we reflect on 2011 we’re feeling a healthy dose of gratitude for our amazing community and the great crew, clients and subcontractors we are lucky enough to work with every day. Without those two key elements 2011 would have looked much different for Chuckanut Builders.
For starters, last year at this time we had three guys working in the field and this year we have a total of eleven employees with seven guys (yes they are all guys, we’d love to hire a lady carpenter!) and three office staff.
In 2011 we also completed almost 50 Community Energy Challenge jobs, a handful of kitchen remodels, a cool bike shop, a Japanese Tea House, a green roof porch addition, we worked at the Mountaineers Lodge, and we started a major restoration of a beautiful Victorian home in Blaine.
Other notable accomplishments of 2011:
- In an effort buy local we made a total of 632 trips to Hardware Sales, 265 trips to Builders Alliance and 63 trips to Bellingham Millworks and zero trips to the big box stores.
- We invested in green energy by purchasing a new Cool Machine.
- Our crew donated time and money to Bellingham Mountain Rescue, the Community Boat Center and helped light the Fairhaven Village Green for the holidays!
