Clients Visits During the Covid-19 Outbreak

There are so many new norms in our lives. As we learn to navigate them, we’re creating a new (albeit, hopefully temporary) normal. In the construction industry one familiar, time honored task is meeting new clients.   Often, in client’s homes. As we all know, having folks in our homes is anything but normal right now. Which is why we created these initial meeting guidelines.

Safety Measures

Pre-meeting

Anyone who will be present at client meeting will be asked to take the following steps. 

  • Before the meeting do a quick, personal health assessment. This includes taking your temperature and noting if you have any signs of Covid-19 (dry cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, headache, muscle pain and new loss of taste or smell).
  • If any of these symptoms are present, please let us know and we will reschedule.
  • Make sure you have a mask to wear at the meeting! We’re asking that homeowners, as well as staff, wear a mask during all meetings.
  • Try to minimize the number of folk’s home during the meeting. If anyone is high risk in your home, please have a plan for isolating them for the duration of the meeting.
  • Think about the areas of your home you’ll be showing us. Consider if there are any choke points or if there are areas that are too small for more than one individual to be in while practicing social distancing.
  • Brainstorm if you have an outdoor space that could be used for part of the meeting.

Before entering the clients' home

  • Chuckanut Builders staff will use hand sanitizer.
  • Chuckanut Builders staff will put on their mask before entering the home.

In the clients' home

  • Everyone present, including the homeowner, must wear a mask.
  • Social distancing of 6’ will be practiced by all.
  • Everyone must cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or with the inside of their elbow.
  • Chuckanut Builders staff will minimize touching surfaces in the home, but it is the client’s responsibility to clean and sanitize after we leave.

I know we’re all ready to get back to the days of shaking hands and hugging friends; sharing meals with family and neighbors; and going out to dinner at our favorite restaurant or pub. Until that’s our reality again, we’ll be practicing these protocols, and doing our best to keep our crew, our clients, and our community safe; while also building and remodeling durable, beautiful homes.
